Braila – GreenWay

GreenWay installation took place in Braila during 2019 on Scolilor Street (4 traffic light intersections) and 2020 on Dorobantilor Boulevard (5 traffic light intersections). Overall deployment time took several hours with immediate traffic improvement results. City Hall's traffic management problems along with GreenWay's implemented solution are summarized below:

Frequent and severe breakdowns of installed infrastructure
Installed modern traffic lights controllers having self diagnosis capabilities and failure protection granted by the redundant embedded microcontroller architecture.

Infrastructure malfunctions (e.g. traffic lights controller breakdowns, traffic lights bulbs failure) were reported firstly by traffic participants calling 112 emergency number
GW traffic lights controllers run a continuous infrastructure diagnosis process and when a malfunction occurs, the intervention team is immediately notified by a SMS, with a detailed issue description, so that it can efficiently troubleshoot the problem in the shortest time possible.

Lack of traffic lights coordination created severe congestions, mostly during peak time hours of the day (e.g. 1400 - 1600)
GW deployed coordinated traffic lights mechanisms based on mono and dual simultaneous green waves, according to the City Hall direct requests.

No communication infrastructure available (e.g. fiber optics)
Traffic lights coordination was achieved using independent traffic lights controllers that were syncronized via a GPS connection, thus green waves parameters being the intended ones, even in the absence of a physical connection between two intersections.
